People often say that wines from warmer regions are tannic wines. What exactly is a tannic wine? |

Tannins are found especially in dark grapes. Tannic wines are those that contain a lot of tannins. They are predominant in warmer regions because tannin production needs a lot of sun. Some vines have more tannins than others. |

So, is a tannic wine a good wine? |

Tannins generally make a wine last longer but they have a dry taste in the mouth when the wine is young. It's a more concentrated, stronger wine. It all depends on your tastes! |

You can feel tannins in your mouth when you just touch behind your teeth with you tongue. It's like when you eat pre-mature banana. With some experience tasting you'll be able to feel the thickness of tannins. When the are thick it is not a good sign it can be considered as a default. So when they are thin "BINGO!!!!", because it will very much help this wine to cross ages (in case you want to keep this wine for long time, obviously not the one you just openned) and if you decide to drink it right away there is a way to reduce tannins. As you might have read it in the article "Wine Tasting" (http://www.vinobilia.com/articles/comment-deguster-un-vin-.en.html) put this wine in a decanter for an hour or two. |
